From the beginning, original works have been a mainstay of the Players’ Ring. David Mauriello’s “Body” was produced in January of 1993 and became the first in a long line of new works by local playwrights. Now in our 21st Season, the Players’ Ring has become synonymous with producing new plays and new works by local and regional performing artists.
We invite submissions of new works year round, and we encourage attendance at our annual Producers’ Meeting as well. At this meeting producers, directors and playwrights can “pitch” a play or performance piece even if it has already been submitted. Attending the meeting is not mandatory but the meeting provides a networking opportunity for everyone who might produce his own work or become involved in someone else’s production.
The 2013 Producers’ Meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 18th at the Players’ Ring. The meeting will begin at 7 pm but participants should arrive early to sign in and complete some paperwork.
The Players’ Ring main season runs from September into June. We also have a Late Night Summer
Series in June, July and August consisting of more experimental work. We encourage those interested in submitting a play to attend a performance at the Ring to envision the work in our intimate black box setting. This will give a better feel for the type of work best suited to the venue.
To submit work, please send three hard bound copies of the script or description of a performance piece to:
