The Asperger Twins

The Asperger Twins

September 1 - 10, 2017
By Jeffrey Kinghorn
Presented by RMJ Donald Fine Books & Plays

THE ASPERGER TWINS tells the story of Roger and his sister Kelly, who have lived long enough to realize that the clinical literature is correct: those on the Autism spectrum have little chance of finding deep and lasting relationships unless they are able to connect with others like themselves. They turn away from the absurd hysteria of romantic entanglement and find the richest bond that life has to offer in helping each other recast a life-sentence to oddness and banishment on the periphery into a gift of passionate imagination beyond the reach of multitudes who are challenged with a need to be perceived of as normal.

Roger and Kelly push each other to the front of the same line in which they once stood at the rear and discover a desire to extend themselves with new-found compassion to those who once would have likely passed them by as the other…whenever what was considered ‘other’ was best passed-by in the street.

Told with delicious good humor and heartfelt pathos, THE ASPERGER TWINS is part of a dramatic trilogy entitled SIBLINGS which includes the plays THE MEREDITH BROTHERS and THE CALDWELL SISTERS in a celebration of brothers and sisters unlike so many kinds of relationships that don’t quite stretch from one end of life to the other.
