Original Script by F. Gary Newton, based on the story by Charles Dickens
Presented by the Players' Ring
A Christmas Carol is the classic holiday story of the hardened miser, Ebenezer Scrooge. The man who wants for nothing receives the rarest of Christmas gifts when the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future take him on an overnight journey to see who he truly is, and who he is to become if he continues on his selfish path.
Kelsey Domeny directs the classic this year bringing the theme of childlike hope, faith, and redemption to the season. Roland Goodbody reprises the role of Scrooge, and audiences will delight in Spencer Bateman returning as Tiny Tim, with an additional twist. Oliver Olsen plays The Ghost of Christmas Present, Cailean Anderson makes her Portsmouth debut as Christmas Past. Other new faces to the Ring include Aaron Compagna, Mike Perry, and Amy Agostino, while Portsmouth theatre veterans Bob Porzio, Katie Makem-Boucher, and Katie Juster round out the rest of the cast.
Based on Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella of the same name, A Christmas Carol was adapted by The Player’s Ring Founder, Gary Newton over twenty years ago. Further adaptation was done by Christopher Savage. Portsmouth audiences have been enjoying A Christmas Carol for 20 years.
